Members of the Muslim community from the Gogol Housing Board approached senior police officers after a person received a threatening message on Saturday morning from an accused arrested in the murder case.

They sought to know from Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Margao Sidhant Shirodkar how come an accused in the custody of the Fatorda police send a threatening message outside. They demanded that the police investigate into the episode and initiate necessary action.

SP, South Tikam Singh Verma told the media that the police would investigate into the complaint lodged by the affected party.

When it was brought to his notice that a person had apprehended a similar situation at the Jama Masjid, Margao, the SP (South) said the police would investigate the matter.

Accused person Akram Khan, resident of Gogol Housing Board, and Sahil @ Spyki, resident of Mandopa, Navelim allegedly committed murder of Ali Khan by stabbing him on his stomach with a knife.

Complaint lodged by Saklayan Kuknoor, a resident of Gogol Housing Board further alleged that accused No. 3 Mehboob Makandar, resident of Gogol Housing Board, Taj Makandar, resident of Gogol Housing Board, Alladin Sayyed, residing near Chowgule College, Fatorda, Rizwan Shaikh, resident of Shirvodem Navelim,  Ubed Makandar, resident of Gogol Housing Board, Alam Sayyed, residing near Chowgule College, Fatorda, Latif Sayyed, residing near Chowgule College Fatorda and Ayub Sayyed, residing near Chowgule College, Fatorda, criminally intimidated all the members of Sunni Masjid and involved in criminal conspiracy for non-handing over of donation money collected from marriages and events.

Police to examine conspiracy angle in Gogol Masjid murder

MARGAO: Saying that the police have arrested six persons in connection with the murder at the Gogol Housing Board Masjid, district police chief, SP Tikam Singh Verma on Saturday said the police will investigate into the conspiracy angle behind the incident.

Meanwhile, the four persons who were arrested by the Fatorda police in connection with the murder have been remanded to seven days police custody.

Superintendent of Police, South, Tikam Singh Verma said the police has requested for the sealing of the Masjid since the incident of murder had occurred following a dispute and fight between two groups. He said the police submitted the report to the district authorities as a precautionary measure to prevent breach of peace.
