The Tourism police on Sunday booked three migrant hawkers doing business on the Benaulim beach.

After a video went viral wherein fisherman Pele Fernandes raised concern over the presence of illegal migrant hawkers on the beach, the Tourism police immediately swung into action to rein in the hawkers.

A senior police officer, PI Jatil Potdar informed that the police managed to identify the hawkers and later confiscated their articles based on the video footage.

The police said the hawkers have shops near the beach behind Taj Exotica, Benaulim and they get down on the beach seeing no police staff at the beach while patrolling.

“When they come across the police patrol party, they immediately go to their shops at the beach side and take shelter”,

Pele has thanked the Tourism police for cracking a whip against the hawkers, while insisting that the police conduct routine patrolling of the beach belt to keep the hawkers at bay.
