Three more die of Covid, 88 new infections

CONFIRMED CASES CROSS 50,000-MARK, ACTIVE CASES AT 972

The daily Covid-19 bulletin off the Health Department on Sunday recorded 88 new cases of the infection in the state from among the 966 samples tested in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of confirmed cases detected in Goa so far has touched 50,000-mark and presently stands at 50,064.

A total of 3.81 lakh samples have been tested to date in the state.

While the active count stands at 972, a total of 48,371 people have recovered from Covid-19 so far. The recovery rate for the state is pegged at 96.62 per cent.

Meanwhile, three more Covid-related deaths were recorded in Goa raising the total Covid victim count to 721.

The deceased persons include a 69-year-old woman from Ambelim who passed away at Victor Hospital in Margao as well as a 59-year-old woman from Ponda and a 60-year-old man from Pernem, both of whom expired at Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim. Unfortunately, the 60-year-old male patient died within 18 hours of being admitted at GMC and had prior symptoms of fever and breathlessness for five days. “But the patient neglected himself and did not report to any doctor nor got his Covid swab test done,” states the mortality bulletin of the Health Department.
