Appealing to people to take the Covid jab, North Goa District BJP President Mahanand Asnodkar on Wednesday said the public response for ‘Tika Utsav’ was beyond expectation.

“The vaccination drive has received tremendous response but we want more people to come out and take the vaccine,” said Asnodkar.

The North Goa District BJP president was addressing the media during the function to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, also known as Babasaheb Ambedkar.

Speaking further, Asnodkar said the number of people who took the jabs in Saligao crossed 400 on Sunday, taking even doctors by surprise.

“There was so much rush for the vaccine in Saligao that we fell short of 12 vaccines. It’s an encouraging sign but we have to persuade more people to come out and take the vaccine,” he said.

BJP State General Secretary Gorakh Mandrekar explained to the gathering the achievements of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar on his 130th birth anniversary.

North Goa Zilla Parishad Chairperson Kartik Kudnekar, Vice President of North Goa District BJP Committee Franky Carvalho, General Secretary Rajsingh Rane, executive member Sandip Falari and several other party office bearers were also present.
