Goa Trinamool Congress on Tuesday highlighted the party’s commitment towards fulfilling its promise - ‘Abundant Water and Green Goa' which is a crucial part of the manifesto that was launched recently.
AITC National Vice-President & Rajya Sabha MP Luizinho Faleiro addressed the media along with Goa TMC Mahila Wing Vice-President Pratibha Borkar and General Secretary Vijay Poi on this critical issue, states a press release.
Criticising the BJP government, Luizinho Faleiro said, "Goa is known as an abode of peace and tranquillity but because of the failure of successive governments of both the BJP and Congress, the ecology, economy, and livelihood of Goa has been destroyed. Goa is not a coal destination but a tourism destination. Who sanctioned the double-tracking of railway lines? Who approved the expansion of the Belagavi Highway?"
Highlighting the issue of the Mollem National Park, he further said, "TMC will devotedly work towards stopping the three linear projects at Mollem and look for environmentally sustainable options."
Assuring the people of Goa that TMC would take immediate action on the manifesto points, Luizinho Faleiro said that he would raise this matter in the Rajya Sabha, the release adds.
He further added, "We promise that after the formation of the government, the tribunal’s decision to divert Mhadei water will be challenged and Goa’s right to Mhadei waters will be upheld."
Underlining Goa’s poor performance as far as plastic waste management is concerned, Goa TMC Mahila wing Vice-President Pratibha Borkar said, "TMC will ensure that in each taluka, an efficient garbage collection mechanism and a state-wide sewage network is established. Besides, we will ensure a clean and garbage-free Goa and for that, we’ll set up an integrated waste management system.”
