As the silent period kicked in on Saturday, TMC-MGP leadership brought the Goa campaign to a close with a clarion call to voters - ‘To defeat the BJP, trust TMC-MGP’.
Concluding their campaign in Goa, TMC leaders addressed the media one last time to reiterate their promises to the Goan voters, the party stated in a press release.
The event was presided over by prominent leaders of the TMC-MGP alliance including Lok Sabha MP & AITC Goa in-charge Mahua Moitra, Rajya Sabha MP and AITC National Vice-President Luizinho Faleiro, Rajya Sabha MP & AITC Goa co-incharge Sushmita Dev, Goa TMC Mahila Wing President Avita Bandodkar and MGP supremo Sudin Dhavalikar. AITC Parliamentary party leader in the Rajya Sabha, Derek O’Brien too was present at the media event, TMC further stated.
Kicking off the press conference with her impassioned speech, Mahua Moitra urged the citizens of Goa to take action in the impending elections and vote out the BJP administration. “TMC is strongly committed to driving the BJP out not just from the State governments but also from India altogether in 2024. We are the only political player in the State that is committed to the cause of ousting the BJP and it is this commitment that binds us with the MGP. We are not interested in any other side deals", she noted.
Adding to the conversation, MGP supremo Sudin Dhavalikar noted that both the BJP and the Congress have without doubt repeatedly failed the people's mandate. Pointing to key issues that plague the state, he added, "The promise of resuming mining have not been met, youth do not have jobs, corruption has gone through the roof, Covid was mismanaged by BJP administration, and Congress has completely lost its identity in Goa. Today the government does nothing for the common folk.”
Concluding the press conference, Luizinho Faleiro noted that just in these last four months the people of Goa had welcomed TMC into the State with open arms. “People have lost complete faith in the preceding governments. In 2017, people entrusted Congress with the mandate, but Congress betrayed the people. The BJP which formed the government by trick only led the State to economic ruin - surging inflation, failure of law and order and an absolute lack of policy for native communities like fishermen, farmers, craftsmen has left the state helpless."
