Spiritual practice is a process of searching for inner peace. And, to get that inner peace, one has to follow a scientific procedure called ‘Yoga’, said Swami Smranand Giri at his lecture as part of the series during the DD Kosambi festival of ideas at the Kala Academy on Wednesday.
Swami Giri, who is the Yogada Society general secretary, delivered his lecture on ‘a balanced life through Yoga’. He said, everyone strives to get happiness in their lives.
“With wealth you can buy worldly comforts but you can’t by happiness in your life. The real happiness lies within us. With practice of Yoga you can get the real happiness,” he added.
“God is another name for permanent happiness. Through the practice of Yoga you boost your mind and heart. With this you can attain happiness. Yoga means unification of mind, intellect and the physical body,” Swami Giri said.
On tackling sorrow, Giri said the root cause of sorrow in our life has to be identified.
“With Yoga practice we can find the root cause of sorrow in our life. If the root cause is identified we will be happy,” he added.
Giri’s lecture brought the curtains down on the DD Kosambi festival of ideas, held every year by the Goa government to celebrate the legacy of the famous Goan intellectual whose exploits revolutionised mathematics and
academia globally.
