Residents of Tonca, in the area earlier known as Tambdi Matti, have been receiving dirty and foul-smelling water from their taps since Friday morning through the Public Works Department (PWD) supply.
Several residents told The Goan that they were shocked by the strong stench when they turned on their taps early in the morning.
The problem was reported to be worse in the Chidvilas colony.
Residents said they immediately approached the nearby PWD Division III office at Tonca to complain.
No senior PWD engineer responded to queries on the issue.
However, junior staff at the Division III office said the complaint has been reported and efforts are on to find the cause before fixing the problem.
Meanwhile, residents said the issue could be due to sewage seepage, as a foul smell has been noticed in the area for the past few days.
