The Tourism Department has warned unauthorised traders that they could face penalties for failing to get their activities registered with the department.
Director (Tourism) Suneel Anchipaka has issued a public advisory asking various tourism trade operators to complete their registration or renewal process before September 15, which if not done, appropriate action will follow.
“It has come to the notice of the department that various Tourism Trade related activities such as Hotels/ Guest Houses, Homestays, Tourist Guides, Watersports activities, private shacks, temporary huts, dealers, travel agencies, photographers and a few new activities such as spice plantations, online service providers, adventure sports, etc haven’t been registered/renewed under the Goa Registration of Tourist Trade Act, 1982 and (are) operating illegally,” it said adding,
“It is hereby directed that such trade activities shall be registered, on or before September 15, 2023 failing which the same shall be penalised and which may also lead to disconnection of electricity and water connection as per the provisions under the Goa Registration of Tourist Trade Act, 1982.”
