Ahead of the new tourism season, the Tourism Department has invited applications from owners of shacks, huts and cottages on private properties for registration and renewal of permissions for 2025-26.
The registration fee for shacks varies between Rs 25,000 and Rs 50,000 depending on the size. Applications for renewal can be submitted till September 30.
According to the department, the fee for shacks ranges from Rs 25,000 to Rs 50,000, while for huts and tents it ranges from Rs 5,000 for 10 huts to Rs 75,000 for 50 huts.
Applicants also need to pay GST and a GEL processing fee. Details of all charges are available on the department’s official website.
Private shacks up to 150 sqm will be charged Rs 34,500, including GST and processing fees. For larger shacks, the total fee is Rs 79,000.
For renewal of licences for private beach shacks and permission for beach huts, owners must submit proof of ownership, an affidavit confirming that the temporary structures are on private property, and a copy of the previous year’s NOC from the department. The renewal process will be completed after the demarcation report is obtained.
