The decomposed body of a youth from Uttar Pradesh but residing at Vazrim-Pernem was found in the roadside bushes in a suspected road mishap at Nadora on Friday, after he had gone missing on his birthday on August 7.

The incident came to light on Friday morning, when motorists travelling along the Pirna-Nadora road noticed foul smell coming in the roadside bushes.

On being notified, a Colvale police team went to the site and found a decomposed body and a motorcycle.

Documents in the clothes of the deceased identified the youth as Ashish Kumar Jha (27) who was working at Mopa Airport.

Police found out that Jha had celebrated his birthday with friends and colleagues at his room on August 7. At about 11 am, he told colleagues and friends that he was going to Mapusa to get some food, but did not return till late night. After waiting for some time, his friends and colleagues left the room.

When Jha did not return to his room on August 8, his friends became concerned and went in search of him. They tried calling him on his mobile phone, but it had been switched off. On August 9, they filed a missing complaint with the Mopa police.

Police had been in search of Jha and the body was found along with the motorcycle by the roadside bushes on Friday, in what is believed to have been a road mishap.

Colvale police sent the body to the GMC hospital for an autopsy and investigations are in progress.
