Tourists from Guj extorted of Rs 1.12 lakh in escort scam

MAPUSA

Three persons, including two women, have been booked for allegedly extorting Rs 1.12 lakh from three tourists from Gujarat in Calangute on the pretext of providing escort services.

The incident occurred on January 11, but the complaint was filed on Friday via email after one of the victims returned to Gujarat. The complainant, Yash Shah from Surat, had come to Goa on holiday with two friends.

Shah contacted an online escort service and spoke to an unknown male who agreed to provide three girls for Rs 15,000 and shared photographs. Later, two women arrived at the hotel, but they did not match the photos. The women allegedly created a ruckus, threatened to implicate the tourists in false cases and snatched their mobile phones.

They then forcibly transferred Rs 1.12 lakh from the victims’ bank accounts. Based on the complaint, Calangute police registered a robbery case.

PSI Kiran Naik is conducting the investigation under the guidance of Police Inspector Paresh Naik.
