Mandrem MLA Jit Arolkar on Monday assured that the water scarcity issue in Tuem would be resolved on priority.
Arolkar was speaking to reporters after visiting the pump house at Tuem to take stock of the situation.
Aggrieved locals in Bhom and Gaonkarwada area in Tuem had highlighted the issue of water scarcity to Arolkar and he decided to visit the pump house at Tuem and discuss the issue with officials of the water department.
A water supply official Sandip Morajkar explained to Arolkar that the pump house has sufficient water but water does not reach the people through taps due to fluctuation in power supply, which hampers the water supply.
Arolkar has instructed the officer to attach a generator to the pump house and said he would also discuss the issue with Power Minister Sudin Dhavlikar and try to resolve the matter.
“The current Chandel water supply project is falling short in supplying enough water to the area and the government is expediting the construction of a new project here. Work has been slowed down due to the panchayat election process, but I will discuss the matter with officials regarding Chandel project after panchayat elections are over,” said Arolkar.
He also promised the construction of the new water project at Tuem by following it up with the government.
