An 81-year-old man from Panaji has filed a complaint alleging assault and criminal intimidation by two individuals in Bardez earlier this month.
According to Mapusa police, complainant Antonio Jose Joaquim De Souza, a resident of Trionora Apartments near Panaji market, reported that the incident occurred on April 4 between 1 pm and 1.30 pm at Punola, Ucassaim in Bardez.
De Souza stated that when he visited the residence of the accused in connection with a personal dispute, he was allegedly abused in filthy language and physically assaulted.
The accused, identified as Valmon Valerian Barretto and Pearl Nadia Azavedo, both residents of Ucassaim, are alleged to have acted with common intention, assaulting the elderly man with fists, kicks and a bamboo stick, causing injuries.
The complainant further alleged that he was threatened with dire consequences, including death threats.
An offence has been registered under Sections 352, 351(3), 118(1) read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
Police have issued notices to the accused and further investigation is underway.
