Two hurt in tree falls on houses in Benaulim, Nuvem

Two persons were left injured in separate incidents of tree collapse on houses in Benaulim and Nuvem on Sunday as strong winds left a trail of destruction across Salcete.
Fire Officer Gill Souza further informed that a goat was killed while another seriously injured after a mango tree came crashing down on a structure housing the animals. Around 15 goats were rescued in the incident.
At Nuvem, one person was injured after a coconut tree fell on a house. Gill Informed that the injured was shifted to the Hospital by an ambulance.
The Fire Officer said that fire personnel were on their toes throughout Sunday as many trees came crashing down on structures and on roads, leaving a trail of destruction.
“Fire and emergency personnel are still attending to the calls till late Sunday”, he added.
