Mapusa Police have arrested three persons, two of whom are locals on charges of kidnapping a 16-year-old girl late Thursday night.

The minor girl was rescued from the house of one of the accused in Assonora.

The three accused were identified as Aaron Percy Moniz (24) of Molewada-Assonora, Ayush Arun Mandrekar of Belavista Vaddo-Sirsaim and Narendra alias Badal Singh of Chicalim-Covlale.

According to police, the father of the girl lodged a complaint stating that his minor daughter was missing from the residence.

Soon after receiving the complaint, Mapusa Police formed two police teams and launched an investigation in the matter.

The police team scanned all the CCTV footage from the complainant’s house to all the nearby junctions and got crucial leads in the case.

Later, through human and technical surveillance, police received information that the victim girl was in a house at Assonora.

“The girl came in contact with the accused Singh through Instagram. The accused visited the girl’s house and lured her to accompany him to his house,” said Jivba Dalvi, Mapusa SDPO.

The accused then contacted his friends Ayush Mandrekar and Aaron Moniz and took the girl to one of the accused’s houses in Assonora.

“The police team raided the Assonora house at around 11.30 pm and rescued the girl,” the DySP informed.

The accused trio were also arrested.

Further investigation is in progress under the supervision of Mapusa PI Sitakant Nayak.
