Two more Covid deaths, 81 new cases recorded

Two more Covid-related deaths were recorded in the mortality bulletin of the Directorate of Health Services on Saturday raising the total number of Covid deaths in Goa so far to 746.

The deceased persons include a 58-year-old man from Goa Velha and a 65-year-old woman from Curchorem.

The Health Department has detected 81 new cases from among the 2,207 samples tested in the last 24 hours. With this, a total of 867 cases are currently active.

The total confirmed cases till date stand at 51,790 of which 50,177 have recovered so far. The recovery rate in Goa is pegged at 96.88 per cent.

Meanwhile, the North Goa District Magistrate has denotified with retrospective effect from December 31, 2020 three paid Covid Care Centres at Hotel Ansh in Calangute, Hotel Shubhankar Heritage in Karmali and Ocean Wellness Resort in Sangolda under the Goa Epidemic Disease Covid-19 Regulations, 2020.

Incidentally, all 275 beds in government-run Covid Care Centres in North Goa are presently unoccupied while only eight beds from the total 60 available in South Goa are occupied.
