Approval for the long-awaited HV/MV equipment underground cabling network from the 220/33KV Cuncolim substation to the 33/11KV Canacona substation has been issued.

The State Electrical Inspectorate, vide a communique dated July 10, accorded its approval for the commissioning of the 33KV underground cable from the Cuncolim substation to the Canacona substation as a conversion of the 33KV double circuit overhead network to an underground cabling network.

“This energisation of the HV/MV equipment underground cable network will bring complete relief to the electricity network for all Canconkars, ensuring a stable, uninterrupted power supply,” stated Speaker and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar.

The commissioning of the 33KV underground cable from the 220KV Cuncolim substation to Canacona marks a major leap in power infrastructure.

When contacted, the Canacona Assistant Engineer, Govind Bhat, confirmed that approval has been received and that testing will be done before commissioning.

“We got the approval for testing and commissioning. We will start testing now, part by part, and then put it into operation,” he said.

Incidentally, the existing 33KV double circuit overhead network, passing through dense forest cover and thick vegetation, especially in the Padi section and Karmalghat area, habitually breaks down, cutting off the regular power supply to the 33/11KV Canacona substation, eventually affecting the smooth supply in the taluka.
