Stating that Dabolim constituency would soon have underground power cables, Dabolim MLA and Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho on Thursday also assured to raise the issue of frequent power outages with Power Minister Pandurang Madkaikar.
He was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an inspection of the Vaddem lake beautification work along with GSIDC officials.
When informed about frequent power outages in the constituency, Godinho said the underground cabling for Dabolim constituency would be a reality soon.
“I am fully aware of the frequent power outages and some changes are being made with the existing manpower, so that the department can attend to calls every now and then.”
“I will take up this issue directly with the power minister as this needs much attention with regards to equipment and manpower. As you know, recruitment process across all departments has been held up as the chief minister is ill and not in Goa. That is impacting manpower in the department,” said Godinho.
“Many areas in Dabolim Constituency have been ear marked for underground cabling and we will see that it happens and becomes a reality soon,” added Godinho.
While inspecting the Vaddem Lake project, the minister informed reporters that many people were earlier leaving sewage at the site.
“We have made a separate drain outside Vaddem lake, so that the sewage does not seep into the Vaddem lake. We have spent so much on beautifying the lake and we cannot afford to have sewage entering the lake,” he said.
