PERNEM
The underpass at the service road along the National Highway 66 at Ugvem-Pernem has been flooded, making it difficult for motorists to cross the road.
The locals had demanded service roads on both sides of the national highway, but claimed that the government did not pay heed to their demands.
A local, Ramdas Mahale, said the locals had had meetings with the sarpanch, where they put forth their concerns.
“But these concerns were never taken seriously,” said Mahale.
Another resident, Uday Mahale, pointed out that the service road from Rege House to Mauli Mandir is incomplete, and the schoolchildren have to risk crossing the road with speeding vehicles.
The locals have also discussed the issue with Pernem MLA Pravin Arlekar and the road engineers.
