Understanding between panchayat and govt will help village: Madkaikar

Outlining the reasons for the need to have the ruling panel of Se Old Goa Panchayat on his side, Power Minister Pandurang Madkaikar said he has a plan for the village which would be possible only if there is understanding between the panchayat authorities and the government.

OLD GOA: On the swift no confidence motion moved, Madkaikar informed that the issue was never about his wife becoming the sarpanch, but about injustice done to the panel having the majority. r“In a democracy, majority wins but here a person who did not have majority became sarpanch and that too because of a technical error,” he added while stating that if this person was allowed to continue as sarpanch, the functioning of the panchayat would have come to a standstill as no resolutions would have been passed and the whole village would have suffered. r“Today, it has been proved who has the majority and the person who was claiming the majority all along has been exposed,” Madkaikar stated while informing that one more panch has extended support to his camp, bringing the strength to six, as he realized that he was being misguided.
