Colvale police have registered a case of murder after a youth from Uttar Pradesh was found dead on a plateau in Pirna-Bardez on Friday morning.
According to reports, the incident came to light at about 8.30 am, when Kapil Chaudhary (19) of Uttar Pradesh was found lifeless along the Pirna-Tivim road near the border between Kel-Pirna and Khargali in Cansa-Tivim. The youth was shifted to the Mapusa District Hospital, where doctors declared Chaudhary dead on arrival and notified the Colvale police. Multiple injuries were found on the body.
Police began investigations and found out that Chaudhary had been seen in an inebriated state while walking along the Pirna side of the village border on Thursday night, and had tried hitching a lift from motorists.
Police suspect that Chaudhary may have been attacked by some persons with the intention of robbing him.
After ascertaining his identity, the police began searching for relatives and parents of the deceased. On Friday night, the father of the deceased youth lodged a complaint with the Colvale police.
North Goa SP Rahul Gupta and Police DySP Wilson D'Souza visited the Colvale police station and were taking stock of investigations till late at night.
Colvale police have registered a case of murder against unknown persons, and investigations are being conducted under the supervision of Colvale Police Inspector Nikhil Palekar.
