Residents say problem-creating migrants will not be spared again

It may be recalled that on Saturday, some persons assaulted a youth, Sidhant Gauns, by barging into his shop. Ponda police had booked Arjun Hanchanmani, Ashok Wadar, Balraj Dodamani and few others in this connection.
They are accused of stealing cash of Rs 85,000 and damaging two LED TVs from the shop.
An offence was registered under sections 143, 147, 452, 323, 427, 506 (ii) and 392 r/w 149 of IPC, but the accused, who are absconding, are yet to be arrested.
On Tuesday, except pharmacies and clinics, all other establishments were shut down in the area. ZP Dyanseshwar Naik, Ganje-Usgao Sarpanch Ramnath Dangui, Panch Vijay Gaonkar, Dharbandora Sarpanch Vinayak alias Balaji Gawas, Satyavijay Naik, victim Sidhant Gauns and others spoke on the occasion.
Ramnath Dangui said the panchayat will support the locals in this case and said what the migrants resorted to was ‘dadagiri’.
Dyaneshwar Naik said people from the village will not tolerate any ‘dadagiri’ henceforth. All the leaders warned the assailants of befitting action from the locals if they create any problem in the
area again.
About 500 people marched to the market area after the meeting and shouted slogans against the migrants who created the problem.
Satyavijay Naik said the crowd had shown unity. “This proves that we are proud of this land and will not tolerate assaults on us,” he said.
The locals assured all support to the victim and said he should not be afraid to move out of house as all are with him. Gauns had expressed his concerns about rumors that he will be targeted again.
