MARGAO
Residents of Marabhatt-Utorda in Majorda village are up in arms over the sudden closure of a motorable road by the Railway authorities.
Agitated residents have pointed out that the Railways cannot shut down the road used by the locals on the plea there is an alternate road available and the property in question falls in the Railway property.
After the residents lodged their complaint, the Majorda panchayat led by Sarpanch Linet Vaz inspected the road.
The residents are also believed to have drawn the attention of the local MLA Aleixo Sequeira seeking his intervention to restore the road.
The MLA is believed to have called the residents next week for discussions.
A resident Libereta Fernandes told The Goan that the closure of the road will put the residents of Marabhatt to great hardships.
