Vasco 'stripper' gets a dressing down

VASCO

In a surprise turn of events, a day after a man stripped himself in front of a 14-year-old schoolgirl in Chicalim before following her, naval personnel were reported to have given the 'stalker' a life-threatening chase.

According to Vasco Police, a naval official on Wednesday at about 2.30 pm took Atul Dicholkar (25) of New Vaddem, an AC technician at Dabolim airport, in an injured condition to the police station.

Police said upon inquiry, Dicholkar claimed that some naval persons had assaulted him before taking him to the police station.

On noticing Dicholkar with injuries to his right leg and other areas of his body, police referred Dicholkar to Chicalim Cottage Hospital, from where he was shifted to GMC hospital.

Source at the police station told The Goan that Dicholkar was sighted at the Jogger's Park behind the Naval Officers' Residential Quarters at Chicalim.

“The minor girl, who is the daughter of a naval officer, had given the description of Dicholkar to her father and acting on the tip-off, the naval personnel along with the girl’s father rushed to Jogger's Park,” said the source.

On noticing the naval vehicle, Dicholkar fled on his motorcycle and on reaching near Chicalim ground, the naval personnel dashed their vehicle against the two-wheeler and later assaulted him with metal pipes, the source added.

Fearing that a case would be registered against the navy personnel, some naval officials went to the office of Mormugao DySP Sucheta Dessai, hoping that the police would downplay the assault case. Simultaneously, the naval officials also contacted a senior police officer at Panaji Police headquarters in this connection.

Police said Dicholkar's mother has filed a complaint and the police have registered an offence of assault against five naval officials and PSI Nehanda is investigating the case.
