Vedanta Sesa Goa recently concluded its 'Safety is Us' campaign, reinforcing its commitment to safety within the organisation and the community. Centered on "Safety Leadership for ESG Excellence," the campaign aimed to instill safety consciousness through various initiatives, including safety awareness programs for employees, business partners, and communities in Goa, Maharashtra, and Gujarat.
A key focus was vehicle and driving safety, with community engagement drives promoting cautious driving practices. The campaign also targeted youth, educating over 400 students on safe driving and road behavior. These students took a safety pledge, committing to safe driving and promoting safety.
Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, endorsed the campaign, highlighting its significance in creating safer communities. “I believe that wider adoption and support of ‘Safety is Us’ will lead to safer communities and a more informed public, Sawant said.” Vedanta Sesa Goa collaborated with Panchayats and schools to conduct joint activities on vehicle safety, fire safety, and emergency services. Safety collaterals were distributed widely to raise awareness.
Within the organisation, regular safety training and briefings were held to ensure that all employees and business partners are well-informed about safety measures. The leadership team actively engaged with workers to nurture a safety culture, rewarding exemplary adherence to safety protocols.
Navin Jaju, CEO of Sesa Goa, emphasised the non-negotiable nature of safety in achieving business goals, aiming to enhance safety ownership and consciousness across the company. “At Vedanta Safety continues to be non-negotiable as we set our sight on ambitious business targets and growth. Through ‘Safety is Us,’ we aim to enhance safety ownership and consciousness across Sesa Goa, reaching new ESG excellence, Jaju said.” The campaign also involved local traffic police to assist in spreading awareness about road safety and defensive driving across all locations of Sesa Goa.
