Verdict to be challenged in High Court

Moments after she was sentenced to life imprisonment by the South Goa Sessions Court on Wednesday, Adv Julius Gomes, the lawyer representing accused Pratima Naik said that the accused would challenge the order before the High Court at Goa.

Adv Gomes said that his client has bright prospects of succeeding in the high court since there were discrepancies in the prosecution case, adding that Pratima has also been one of the victims in the case, but was made an accused by the police.   
He also said that Pratima’s sister, who is the wife of the state approver Abhijit Prabhugaonkar, was not examined by the prosecution, adding that her examination would have helped to bring the true facts in the case. 
“My client Pratima has preferred to file an appeal before the high court challenging the South Goa Sessions court order sentencing her to life imprisonment,” Adv Gomes told the media.
