MARGAO
Expressing concern over the sudden influx of Muslims in Goa from various states, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has on Thursday underscored the need for the authorities to check and probe into the seemingly systematic settlement of such Muslims in various assembly constituencies in the State.

Saying that the influx indicates nefarious design, VHP leader, Maha Mantri Milind Parande said the authorities must pay attention to such imbalances in the population as it may affect the political outcomes in elections.

Demanding imposition of President’s Rule in West Bengal, the VHP leader has also unveiled its plan of action on April 19 by holding protests at the two district headquarters in Goa as part of the country-wide agitation to protest against the violence against Hindus in Murshidabad, West Bengal.

Addressing the media here on Thursday evening, the VHP leader said imbalance in the Hindu population in the country is dangerous for the whole country. “Even the Governor of Goa has mentioned similar state of affairs in the State. He had specifically mentioned a great drop in the Christian population percentage in Goa coupled with an alarming rise in Muslim population percentage,” he said.

He added: “Truly we are seeing glaring example of that in Goa also, a sudden influx of Muslims in Goa from various states and seemingly systematic settlement of such Muslims in various assembly constituencies indicates nefarious design and the authorities must pay attention to such imbalances in the population as it may affect the political outcomes in elections.”

To a question, Parande said the government authorities should check the background of the Muslim influx, if there is any pattern behind the influx. “We are not paying attention as to who is coming into the state, why people from sections and areas are coming into the State. Their background and settlement in the state; the source of their funds in starting new business,” he said.

He also underscored the need to check whether there is a typical settlement pattern associated with the influx.

Justifying the demand for imposition of President’s Rule in West Bengal, Parande said the type and scale of violence perpetuated against the Hindus in the state is worrisome “The State government is not fulfilling its duty there to protect citizens, including women, their homes and property,” he protested.
