Asserting that he has joined hands with the BJP to form the government to get developmental projects in Fatorda, TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai on Thursday unveiled a road map by placing three major long-term projects in public domain for a debate “ the KTC bus stand, a Municipal Council for Fatorda and police station for Fatorda.

Sardesai urged the citizens to take a call whether they want the proposed bus stand under PPP with resort and malls as was proposed by the Congress in 2011 or departmentally.
In his first major public interaction with prominent citizens of Fatorda, including Engineer Ernest Moniz, former MMC chairperson Elino Colaco, former minister Luis Alex Cardozo and others, after becoming the TCP Minister in the BJP-led government, Sardesai said he has joined hands with the BJP to meet the aspirations of the people of Fatorda vis-à-vis developmental projects and to implement Goa Forward Party ideology of Goemkarponn. “Many people say that I did not consult them before taken the decision to support the BJP. The time was very short and I had to take a decision to meet the aspirations of the people, who wanted development in the constituency”, he told the citizens.
Sardesai said he has placed both long-term projects and short-term ones in Fatorda, which are proposed to be implemented in the next five years. “The three major projects which have been placed by me in public domain are the KTC bus stand, a separate Municipal body for Fatorda and a police station. Let there be a debate on these projects before arriving at a decision. I am not in any haste to implement these projects,” he said.
On the KTC bus stand, Sardesai recalled that the Congress government-led by Digambar Kamat had proposed an ultra-modern bus terminus at the existing KTC bus stand with provision for malls and resorts. “People of Fatorda need to take a call, whether they want a simple bus stand or a bus stand with malls and resorts. I can ask the government to rope in prominent architects and planners to design the proposed bus stand, but the citizens need to take a call first,” he said.
Similarly, he placed before Fatordekars his proposal for a separate Municipal body for Fatorda and a police station to take care of the security requirements in the constituency.
As far as short term projects is concerned, the TCP Minister said the entire road from Holy Spirit Church square to Sonsodo will be hotmixed soon, with a provision for footpath. He said the Municipal acquired land opposite the PDA market complex will soon play host for parking to meet the requirements of vehicular parking.

PANAJI: This bleak scenario has made things extremely difficult for mining companies in Goa, most of which export iron ore of 56 grade or even less.   Speaking about decline in ore prices, Glenn Kalavampara, secretary, Goa Mineral Ore Exporters Association  said, “In the last one year, coal price has shot up from $100 a ton to $300.
