Following his resignation from Congress and as an MLA after the floor test on March 16, Vishwajit Rane has disclosed his intention to go house to house in order to reconnect with the people of his constituency and explain the reasons behind his decision as well as his present position to his constituents.
“Congress has failed the people through mismanagement at central and state level. We were given a mandate but it was not acted on by the leaders. Hence, I took such a drastic step,” tweeted Rane.
He further sought to respond to All India Congress Committee General Secretary Digvijaya Singh’s direct charge. “I was called a BJP spy by the party leaders. I resigned because I was disillusioned with the party that doesn’t have a future,” he said.
Rane also questioned Congress leaders over the alleged delay in a tweet that read, “If the defence minister could leave his post and be brought to Goa to form the BJP government, what were Congress leaders doing? Sleeping?”
He also warned that ‘if Rahul Gandhi continues this approach, young leaders like myself and others will continue to leave the Congress’.
In a tweet mentioning the official handles of Rahul Gandhi and Digvijaya Singh, Rane said, central leadership is to be blamed for the non-formation of Congress government in Goa. Rane hinted that the immediate cause of his resignation from the party was the appointment of Chandrakant ‘Babu’ Kavalekar as the leader of Congress Legislative Party. “Kavalekar has not attended CLP meetings in the last five years but was appointed CLP leader,” he alleged.
