Voters turn out in large numbers in Penha-de-Franca
The election to Wards 8 and 9 of Penha-de-Franca Panchayat passed off peacefully without any untoward incident on Saturday. rnVoters turned out in large number to exercise their franchise.

Three candidates each are in the fray in Wards 8 and 9. The fate of Shalu Gupta, Swati Shetkar and Kavita Kavlekar from Ward 8 and rShyamsunder Kamat, Siddesh Naik and Umesh Phadte from Ward 9 have been sealed. rThere was sufficient deployment of police personnel. rHowever, there were no wheel chairs at DIET polling station as a result of which senior citizens had difficulty in climbing the steps making voting difficult for them.
It has come to the notice of the traffic police that tourists who rent two-wheelers in Goa are provided with sub-standard quality helmets in the name of protective head gear.
