Speaking to media persons, CEO Kunal said that doubts have been raised about the confidentiality of the machines. No one other than the voter will be able to see his/her paper trail which gives details of the candidate and the party voted for, he added.
He said there were rumors doing the rounds that a third party could keep tabs on who votes for whom through the use of the machine that is being used for the first time in the 2017 election.
Clarifying further, additional CEO Narayan Navti said once a voter punches in the vote on the electronic voting machine, a receipt of who the voter voted for is generated through the VVPAT. In a matter of a few seconds, the paper trail then falls into a sealed box that will be sealed and an additional seal
would be applied to the entire box after voting is complete, he stated.
Kunal added that legal action will be taken against any rumor mongers found to be spreading news that VVPATs can compromise on voters’ identities.
