MARGAO
Goa Forward Party president Vijai Sardesai has sought clarity from Chief Minister Pramod Sawant over the questions raised over the delimitation of the Municipal wards, demanding to know whether the government is trying to hijack the powers or is moving towards a situation to postpone the Municipal election.
Addressing the media, Sardesai said the Chief Minister should clarify certain issues which has left the people confused over the delimitation process. Citing the case of Margao, he said the State Election Commission has fixed the number of Municipal wards to 24 from the existing 25 when the government had taken a Cabinet decision to increase the wards to 27.
“One side, the government wanted to increase the number of Margao Municipal wards to 27. Now, the SEC has fixed the wards to 24, one less than the existing wards. This is being done by the ruling party and the government should clarify to remove the confusion”, he said, adding “to establish Ram Raj, it is incumbent to give clean administration. What is being done is not Ram raj, but Ravan Raj”.
He warned that failure to clear the air of confusion will only force the people to move the Courts seeking justice.
