Water woes in Sakhali highlighted
BICHOLIM: Sakhali Municipal Council (SMC) Chairperson Dharmesh Saglani has asked the PWD to ensure regular water supply to the residents of Sakhali and surrounding areas.
He was speaking at a joint meeting convened by him recently at Desainagar-Sakhali after the villagers from Sakhali and surrounding areas approached him complaining about acute shortage of water.
The residents raised different issues regarding water shortage and said water bills were exorbitant despite irregular water supply. They threatened to agitate if the water supply problem was not solved.
It was also discussed to replace the old lift irrigation pump at Sakhali water treatment plant and to install a generator to help people during power cuts. The residents also demanded that there should be regular water supply from at least 7 am to 1 pm every day.
PWD officials B S Talikutti, T S Rane and Sushant Kanekar were also present for the meeting.
