Eminent Goan jurist, Ferdino Rebello, will partake in a webinar alongside Prashant Bhushan on the question of the impact of the latter’s recent conviction for contempt on future public interest litigations (PILs).
Justice Rebello is a former Chief Justice of the prestigious Allahabad High Court and had an eminent legal practice in Goa before he was elevated to the Bombay High Court in the 1990s.
He also served a brief stint as a legislator in the Goa Legislative Assembly, representing the Cuncolim constituency in the 1970s.
The webinar, organised by the All India Catholic Union’s (AICU) public affairs commission, will be a rare appearance by Justice Rebello in public discourse in recent years.
Also partaking in the webinar on Monday between 6.30 pm and 8.30 pm will be Fr Cedric Prakash, a Gujarat-based Jesuit and human rights activist. Former AICU president, columnist and activist John Dayal is also on the webinar panel.
