Will Goa’s lone wholesale fish market located in the SGDPA market get a turnaround from the new Chairman and his members from the perennial issues plaguing the market complex?
The new Chairman and the Authority has a task at hand to finalise the sopo contractor for the wholesale fish market. The SGPDA had floated a tender to rope in a contractor to collect the sopo fees in the wholesale fish market. The contractor, however, could not be finalised due to the intervening election code of conduct.
Monitored by the High Court, the appointment of the new contractor is expected to take place after the new Authority assumes office post-appointment of a new PDA chairman.
The wholesale fish market is plagued by a host of issues, including stink for want of development of the complex. The new PDA may have to take the decision how to go about re-development of the wholesale fish market to meet the growing requirements.
