Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar on Sunday said that the recent move of the government to reduce the  prices of fuel was just a political stunt and price reduction would not last long.

Amonkar speaking to reporters after inaugurating a free homeopathic medical camp at Baina said that he will agitate and people will come on roads if panchayat reservations are not done properly.

"The prices of fuel and commodities have already skyrocketed way too far and while fuel prices crossed the Rs 100 mark, the price of a cooking  gas cylinder has gone from Rs 360 to over Rs1000.  Yesterday the government has started a new drama by temporarily reducing prices of fuel  after increasing the price every single day all this while but this reduction will not remain for long. The already increased prices of vegetables and other commodities due to rising fuel prices will not go down now and this stunt will not benefit the people. This is just a gimmick for the upcoming elections. The government has no right to fool the people and if they are really concerned, they must get the prices of fuel back to Rs 60 again " said Amonkar

Amonkar said that he was with the people every time the government tried to impose on people wrongly done reservations.

" Whenever there is injustice on people , I will always stand with them because we have taken agitation across Goa in the past for issues like this. We had even gone to the Supreme court in the past when a wrong reservation was done during the Council elections.

"In case the government tries some tactics over reservation of wards in the panchayat elections, then I will definitely agitate and protest along with the people," said Amonkar.

Congress Minority Chairman Nazir Khan appealed to Amonkar to have more medical camps every six months across all wards of Mormugao Constituency

" We have had a medical camp at Baina and there are some great initiatives taken by Amonkar. There is a tremendous response with over 100 registration done in an hour's time and the figure will go up as the day ends . This may be for the first time in 15 years that we have a medical camp with 8 doctors on site. We have now appealed to Amonkar have more medical camps every six months across all wards of Mormugao Constituency," said Khan.

Khan said that politics had now been fought on religious lines which was not good for the state. " We have seen how in the Centre and the State that attempts are being made to divide people based on religion though the people are not supporting such a system. The BJP wants to use the RSS agenda to divide the people while the public wants peace and harmony . We appeal the Government to do something for the people instead of trying to disrupt communal harmony," said Khan.
