“I am in talks with the Congress and depending on how the talks go, I will announce my decision. I am meeting Chella Kumar and within two days I will make my decision known. Let’s see how the situation is,” said Monserrate.
Asked about the talk that he would make António Fernandes, the MLA of Santa Cruz resign and he contest in his place, Monserrate said that there was no such plan. Prior to the State Assembly elections in Panaji, Monserrate while announcing that he would contest from Panaji had expressed a desire to take on Parrikar directly instead of his then opponent Sidharth Kuncalienker.
Monserrate has constantly been harping on the fact that Panaji city has stagnated over the last 25 years.
