With hawkers banned, free movement at Old Goa fair

OLD GOA

The Old Goa feast fair saw free movement of people visiting it as the hawkers have been done away with this time around.

It  was observed that during the past, the hawkers would operate in the  middle of the road, which would hinder smooth movement of the public  visiting the fair.

However, this year, such hawkers have been banned  and the Old Goa police immediately swoop down on any hawkers who are  found selling their goods on the roads.

The decision has been  welcomed by many as they said that it allowed them free movement in the  fair, which was earlier not possible when the hawkers did business in  the middle of the road.

The people have now demanded that the ban on hawkers should become an annual affair.

Also,  some of the stalls near the Gandhi Circle have also not been put up,  which has also ensured that the area remains accessible whenever any  emergency occurs.
