It’s harvesting time and time to reach out to the farmers, more so with Assembly elections just less than six months away.
Two-time former Fatorda MLA and BJP leader Damu Naik visited the fields of Fatorda during the weekend as he made available a harvester to the farmers.
Accompanied by BJP councilors -- Camilo Barretto, Milagrina and leaders, Joseph Silva, Piedade Norohna, Zico Fernandes and others, Damu said the days of politicians fooling the farmers are gone. “This initiative by Vibrant Fatorda to provide harvester to the farmers is another step to help the farming community. The farmers are the backbone of the economy. Farmers can avail the harvesting facility without any tokens, filing applications or putting their signatures on blank papers”, he said.
Taking a dig at his political rival, the BJP leader said farmers need not go the doorsteps of any politician or MLA for help. “We also have been working for the farmers all these years, but had never taken any publicity”, he said.
Councilor Camilo Barretto, Zico Fernandes and others spoke at the program as they thanked Damu for his gesture in providing the harvester free of cost to the farming community.
