Addressing the media, Auda sought to know why the custody of the minor girl was not given to her father, who was present at the police station. She pointed out that the police ought to have handed over the minor girl to the Child Welfare Committee instead of any third party.
"The child was required to be produced before the Child Welfare Committee. It was in the domain of the Child Welfare committee to decide where the child would be placed. The police cannot take on the role of the CWC," she asserted.
"In trafficking of women, and children, a chain of events happens. In this case, the chain of events began when the police did not hand over the minor girl to her father nor to the CWC," Auda added.
