BICHOLIM
Repair work at the Tillari canal which breached at Bhedshi-Sateli in Maharashtra near the Goa border last week has been in progress on a war footing in order to release water to Goa at the earliest.
The breach in the Tillari canal has compelled authorities to stop water supply, thereby affecting water treatment plants at Assonora and Chandel, as well as farmers from the talukas of Bicholim, Bardez and Pernem.
WRD Chief Engineer Shrikant Patil along with his team and officials from Maharashtra inspected the site at Bhedshi and reviewed the repair work in progress.
Patil said Goa has supplied pipes to Maharashtra to expedite the repair work. “Since the canal had breached, water supply to Goa has been stopped and efforts are in progress on a war footing to repair the canal and resume the release of water supply to Goa,” Patil added.
