The road stretch from White House Restaurant to the GIM Gate on the Poriem–Sanquelim road at Poriem-Gholwada in Sattari, which had been severely damaged for the past two months, has finally received attention from authorities.

Gravel was brought and dumped on the road on Friday, and work to lay the gravel began from Saturday.

Earlier, deep excavation had been carried out on this road to lay water pipelines. The trench was temporarily filled with soil and stones, but due to the lack of proper repairs, mud accumulated on the road and the stones spread across the surface. This made the road extremely dangerous, particularly for two-wheeler riders. A few motorists reportedly slipped on the loose surface, increasing the risk of accidents.

Meanwhile, locals have complained that the pit dug for connecting the pipeline has still not been fully repaired and remains in a hazardous condition.

The road is narrow with a steep incline and dangerous bends, making it difficult to see vehicles approaching from the opposite direction. There is hardly any space along the roadside, causing difficulties when two vehicles try to pass each other. Due to GPS navigation, many local as well as out-of-state vehicles are using this route, increasing traffic pressure.

Large amounts of dust rising from the road are also causing inconvenience to motorists and pedestrians. Citizens who come for morning and evening walks, students, and elderly residents find it difficult to walk safely along this route. The situation becomes even more dangerous at night when the condition of the road is not clearly visible.

While hot-mix asphalting work is being carried out on other roads in the area, motorists are questioning why this particular stretch has been delayed.

Locals have demanded that authorities conduct an immediate inspection and carry out quality hot-mix asphalting on the road, along with necessary measures to reduce the dust problem.
