CANACONA:
Speaker and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar laid the foundation stone for the urgent repair and strengthening of 7 damaged culverts from Gaondongrim High School to Monem Junction in Gaondongrim.
“These works have been officially approved and will commence shortly as all formalities are in place,” informed Tawadkar after the brief function to lay the foundation stone for the project.
"We have already completed the black-topping and hot-mixing of internal roads of Gaondongrim roads. This work to strengthen culverts at a cost of about Rs 32 lakh which will last for 20 years is essential to ensure proper drainage, prevent flooding, and maintain road safety for daily commuters on the route,” Tawadkar added.
Stating that almost all the road works and underground electrical cabling is completed, Tawadkar said the emphasis would now be on laying of underground power LT lines in Gaondongrim and Khotigao.
“Work to lay LT lines underground has already begun in Keri-Khotigao and it will soon be extended to other areas of both these villages,” the speaker said.
Canacona BJP Mandal President Prabhakar Gaonkar also spoke on the occasion.
PWD (Roads) AE Sarvesh Madkaikar, Junior Engineer Pooja Desai, Shristhal Biodiversity Committee Chairman Vinay Tubki, and some prominent villagers were present on the occasion.
