The MIT-World Peace University (WPU) announced the establishment of the WPU Goa Private University campus at Tivim. In a press statement, WPU said that WPU Goa is a next-generation university envisioned to redefine higher education through global thinking, transdisciplinary learning, and a deeply human-centric philosophy.
The announcement of WPU Goa is the culmination of an extensive two-year national and global visioning exercise that brought together leading academicians, education leaders, and experts from diverse disciplines, it said.
President WPU Goa Dr Satish Tripathi said that universities of the future must be transdisciplinary by design, discovery-driven in pedagogy, and embedded within integrated research ecosystems. “Equally important are living-learning scholar communities and strong national and global immersions that prepare students to address complex real-world challenges,” he said.
MAEER’s MIT Group of Institutions and WPU Goa executive president Rahul Karad added that the visioning process revealed a strong national consensus on the future of higher education.
He said that transdisciplinarity, discovery-driven pedagogy, integrated research ecosystems, living-learning communities, and global immersion form the academic foundation of WPU Goa.
WPU said that Goa as the location for the new university is both strategic and symbolic.
