Yet another mishap at Peddem junction

MAPUSA 

Yet another accident was reported at the National Highway junction at  Peddem, Mapusa late Thursday evening. Luckily no one was injured in the mishap. 


Three children were reportedly travelling in the car.


The Maharashtra-registered truck was proceeding towards North while the car was moving across the NH   to the other side of Peddem.


The Peddem junction at the NH is accident-prone as nearly 11 roads meet at the site.

The NH authorities with the local MLAs of Mapusa and Aldona had taken several initiatives to ease the problem at the junction. 


Erecting traffic signals and rumblers were proposed but nothing has materialised so far.

In response to mounting pressure from smaller steelmakers urging for a halt in exports of low-grade iron ore, N N Sinha, Secretary of India's Steel Ministry, refuted claims of any contemplation on imposing a ban. Speaking on February 29, Sinha emphasized, "We have not considered a ban and nor recommended it."
