PANAJI: Mormugao Police have registered a case against an 18-year-old youth for allegedly sexually assaulting his 10-year-old minor relative at Baina.
According to police, the case was registered early this morning, following a complaint lodged by the minor’s mother and family.
As per the complaint, the alleged incident took place last night between 10 pm and 10.30 pm. The accused, who is reportedly a relative of the family, allegedly lured the minor to his residence on the pretext of getting food.
The complaint further alleges that after taking the girl to the residence, the accused forcibly dragged her into a room and covered her mouth to prevent her from raising an alarm before allegedly sexually assaulting her. Police said the minor sustained bodily injuries in the incident.
Following the complaint, Mormugao Police booked the accused under Sections 65(2) and 115(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, Section 8(2) of the Goa Children’s Act, 2003, and Sections 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Further investigations are underway.
