A youth was found dead under mysterious circumstances at Ambede-Nagargao on Monday night and the family has suspected foul play.
According to information, the body of Shravan Devidas Barve (24) was found in front of his house, about 200 metres from the Hanuman temple in Ambede-Nagargao around 9 am on Tuesday.
On Monday night, Shravan's father Devidas, his brother and his mother had gone to live in another house in Honda. Shravan had reportedly gone to a house in the village to watch the IPL match till late on Monday night, before proceeding towards his house.
When Devidas returned to Nagargao in the morning, they were horrified to find Shravan's body lying in front of the gate.
The Valpoi police was alerted and a police team led by Police Inspector Videsh Shirodkar and PSI Sanisha Naik rushed to the spot. A forensic team was also summoned for further investigation. The body was later sent to the GMC hospital at Bambolim for an autopsy.
Claiming that there were injuries on Shravan’s hands, waist and neck, the Barve family suspected foul play. Speaking to reporters, North Goa SP Akshat Kaushal who also visited the site to take stock of investigations, said a post-mortem examination would determine the cause of death.
Shravan's father Devidas filed a complaint at the Valpoi police station, suspecting foul play in the death of his son. Valpoi police has registered a case and is investigating the incident. The death of Shravan has shocked residents of Ambede-Nagargao, with many describing him as an amiable youth who had got along well with everyone.
