Opposition to the proposed conversion of vast tracts of land in the Pernem taluka draft zoning plan is heating up, with the Pernem Taluka Citizens’ Committee (PTCC) conducting several awareness campaigns across the taluka and even pushing the campaign on social media.
PTCC members have been visiting various villages and conducting meetings, appealing to the people to register their protest and to send applications to the government and local bodies to oppose the proposed zoning plan.
The awareness campaign has gone online as well, with messages and appeals being circulated on Instagram, Facebook and social media.
Members of Pernem Taluka Citizens’ Committee, including Sadanand Vaingankar, Bharat Bagkar, Bhaskar Narulkar, Patekar, Shashikant Mahale,
Daniel D’Souza, Rajan Korgaonkar, Sanjay Raut, Goa Forward leader Deepak Kalangutkar and others, have been conducting awareness meetings in the past few days.
The PTCC conducted a meeting at Bhagavati High School hall in Pernem, followed by another meeting at Mandrem.
The committee wants maximum people to submit their applications and express their objections and views to the government.
The locals claim that the government did not take their views into consideration before drafting the plan.
