A total of six ferry boats were pressed into service to help people and vehicles to cross the Zuari river during the three hours of closure of the bridge.
According to some of the people, who used the ferry service, said the wharfs on both sides had turned slippery. Also, the road from Agassaim police station to the ferry point is like a death trap on account of the mud that has spilled on to the path after the recent pre-monsoon showers.
Locals said as a result of the mud two-wheeler riders has a tough time crossing the stretch from from Agassaim police station to the ferry point and some of them even fell down.
The police deployed at the site assisted the traffic and no traffic jams took place.
